Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how I handle information on jayleemcgary.com (the "Site"). It covers the website only — not consulting engagements or other paid services, which are addressed in the separate agreement that governs that work.
My goal here is simple: collect as little as possible, tell you plainly what's collected, and never sell your information.
1. What I collect
Information you give me
- Contact inquiries. When you use the contact form, I collect your name, email address, organization (if provided), and the message you write.
- Journal subscriptions. When you subscribe to the Age With Care journal, I collect your email address so I can send entries to you.
- Comments. When you comment on a journal entry, I collect the name and content you submit.
- Product waitlists. When you join the waitlist for a Blue Wellness product, I collect your first name and email so I can let you know when that specific product is available. Waitlist sign-ups are tagged by product in my contact tool so I only email you about what you asked about. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Information collected automatically
- Basic request data. Like most websites, server logs may briefly record IP address, browser type, referring page, and the pages you visit, for security and troubleshooting.
- Cookies and similar tech. The Site uses only the cookies and local storage needed to make the Site work. That includes a small dismissal flag for the cookie notice and, on the shop, your cart contents — saved in your browser's local storage so your selections are still here when you come back on the same device. If you leave "Remember my contact info" on (the default), I also save your name, email, and organization in this browser's local storage so the contact, consulting, comment, and meal-plan intake forms can pre-fill those fields next time — that information stays on your device and isn't sent anywhere extra. You can turn this off or clear it anytime from the cookie preferences panel, the "Clear saved info" link under any pre-filled form, or by clearing your browser storage. The Site does not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
- Privacy-friendly analytics. I may use aggregate analytics to understand which pages are read. These analytics do not identify individual visitors.
2. How I use it
I use the information above to:
- Reply to inquiries you send me.
- Send journal entries to people who subscribed.
- Display comments you submit on the entries you submit them on.
- Keep the Site running, secure, and accurate.
- Comply with legal obligations.
I don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information. I may use information I've collected — for example, your email address if you've subscribed — to share my own offerings, journal entries, or related promotions. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
3. Service providers
To run the Site, I use a small number of trusted service providers — for example, web hosting, database, email delivery, and form handling. These providers process information only on my behalf and only as needed to operate the Site. I work to choose providers with reasonable security and privacy practices.
4. Journal emails
If you subscribe to the journal, I'll email you new entries and occasional related notes. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also opt out anytime at /email-unsubscribe. When you unsubscribe, I stop sending and retain only the minimum record needed to honor your opt-out.
5. How long I keep information
I keep contact form submissions and comments for as long as reasonably needed to respond and to maintain the journal archive. I keep journal-subscriber email addresses until you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept for a short window for security and debugging, then discarded or anonymized.
6. Security
The Site uses HTTPS, and the underlying database and authentication services use industry-standard safeguards. No online service can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but I take reasonable measures to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information I hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain uses. To make a request, email hello@jayleemcgary.com and tell me what you'd like. I'll respond within a reasonable time.
8. Your rights under the GDPR (EU / UK / EEA visitors)
If you're in the European Union, United Kingdom, or European Economic Area, the General Data Protection Regulation (and the UK GDPR) gives you the following rights regarding personal information I hold about you:
- Access — a copy of what I have.
- Rectification — correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Erasure ("right to be forgotten") — deletion, subject to legal exceptions.
- Restriction — limit how I use it while a request is reviewed.
- Portability — receive your data in a portable format.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests or direct marketing.
- Withdraw consent — at any time, where processing is based on consent (this does not affect prior processing).
- Lodge a complaint — with your local data protection authority.
Legal bases I rely on: consent (journal subscriptions, marketing emails); performance of a request you initiated (responding to your contact form); legitimate interests (keeping the Site secure, displaying approved comments, improving content); and legal obligations where they apply.
International transfers: the Site is operated from the United States. When personal information is transferred from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to the U.S., I rely on appropriate safeguards offered by my service providers (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@jayleemcgary.com. I'll respond within 30 days.
9. Your rights under California law (CCPA / CPRA)
If you're a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, gives you the following rights:
- Right to know what categories of personal information I've collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties I share it with.
- Right to delete personal information I've collected, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information.
- Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information.
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.
Categories I collect: identifiers (name, email); commercial information (resource purchases, if any); internet activity (basic request logs, privacy-friendly analytics); and the contents of messages you send me. Sources are you and your browser. Purposes are described in Section 2 above.
"Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information": I do not sell your personal information, and I do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. There is nothing to opt out of in those categories. I do not knowingly process the sensitive personal information of California residents beyond what's needed to operate the Site.
To make a verifiable request to know, delete, or correct, email hello@jayleemcgary.com from the email address associated with your information. I may ask for additional information to verify your identity before responding. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf with written authorization.
I also honor browser-based Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals to the extent applicable.
10. Children
The Site is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has submitted information through the Site, please contact me and I'll remove it.
11. Scope
This policy covers the Site only. Information shared with me during a consulting, advisory, or other professional engagement is handled under the separate confidentiality and data terms in that engagement's signed agreement.
12. Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. When I do, I'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes that affect how I use information you've already shared, I'll take reasonable steps to let subscribers know.
13. Contact
Questions, requests, or concerns about privacy on this Site? Reach me through the contact page or at hello@jayleemcgary.com. California residents may also use this address to submit "right to know," deletion, or correction requests.
